The inaugural Brisbane Psychoanalytic Congress will take place on saturday 22nd November 2025
The Brisbane Psychoanalytic Congress is a forthcoming conference event dedicated to psychoanalysts, psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists who are interested in exploring how psychoanalytic theory continues to shape and inform contemporary clinical practice.
This Congress aims to create a space where practitioners can deepen their understanding of psychoanalytic concepts, reflect critically on their own clinical work, and engage in meaningful dialogue with peers. By bringing together clinicians from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the Congress will foster opportunities to exchange ideas, share insights, and build enduring professional relationships within the psychoanalytic community.
We hope to offer something unique to the psychoanalytic space by inviting speakers from many schools and levels of experience to share their perspectives on working psychoanalytically in the real world.
The Congress is an in-person event that will take place at the beautiful W Hotel Brisbane - see our venue page for more details.
Our Call to Papers closes on 30 August 2025, and the details of our panel of speakers will be released at the beginning of September. Register now for your chance to secure a ticket at Early Bird pricing.
The Brisbane Psychoanalytic Congress is proudly organised by:
the college of clinical psychotherapists
An independent network fostering reflection, dialogue, & excellence in contemporary clinical practice.
Founded by a group of practicing psychologists and psychoanalytic psychotherapists, the College of Clinical Psychotherapists (CCP) is a community association committed to creating inclusive spaces where clinicians of all backgrounds and levels of experience can explore how psychoanalytic ideas can support them to meet the challenges of their day-to-day clinical practice. We believe that clinical wisdom grows when practitioners—from emerging therapists to seasoned analysts—come together to share their cases, questions, and reflections in a spirit of mutual respect and curiosity.
Our Mission
Connection & Community
To build an inclusive forum for clinicians, researchers and students interested in exploring the evolving landscape of psychoanalytic practice in Australia.
Maintaining the Presence of Psychoanalysis in Australia
To make a contribution to the sustained presence of psychoanalysis in Australia through the creation of work and community events that respond to the contemporary challenges of clinical practice.
Education
To create opportunities for students, early and mid-career clinicians and curious practitioners from other training backgrounds to gain exposure to psychoanalytic ideas in an accessible, digestible form.

Organising the Brisbane Psychoanalytic Congress
Under the banner of the CCP, our volunteer Organising Committee brings together practitioners from diverse backgrounds—private practice, university departments and community services—to design a program that balances theory, clinical art and lively debate.
